PAGLA Stronger Than Ever Philadelphia Area Girls Lacrosse Association Gears Up for Another Great Season The Philadelphia Girls Lacrosse Association (PAGLA) was created in 1996 as an umbrella organization with the purpose of facilitating the scheduling of games, sharing information, regulating rules and practices, and offering support to new programs. Click here for a list of PAGLA programs and links to their web sites (if any) -- PAGLA List and Links PAGLA membership is voluntary. PAGLA members are township recreation lacrosse programs and stand alone lacrosse clubs. PAGLA considers itself an instructional league, there are no league standings; scores of the games are not recorded and no league champion is crowned. The PAGLA philosophy supports the learning and practicing of fundamental skills, and attack and defense strategies in fun and inclusive environments.
In 2005, there were 36 programs with teams in three divisions: third and fourth grade; fifth and sixth grade; and seventh and eighth grade. Some programs have a mix of in-house teams and travel teams. In 2005 there were approximately 60 travel third/fourth grade teams, 54 travel five/six grade teams and 35 travel seven/eight grade teams.
If you are looking to play on a club team (i.e., the Philadelphia Express, the Cyclones), contact the club program coordinators for tryout information (it may be posted on the PLA Calendar of Events, so check there too).
